History and Evolution of Music videos

Although the origins of music videos began with “musical short films” that first appeared in the 1920s, they really came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV created their channel around the medium and it changed how we received our music. Instead of just listening we now had a medium for “viewing” music.

Music videos have changed from performance based to more artistic, narrative and concept based, which show off more of a story and the style of the artist. ... They have also become more popular, in a way that they are viewed as a pleasure, due to its easy access and is no longer viewed just to see the artist themselves.
