Production Challenges

Safa Muhammad

Making a simple music video doesn't seem tough when you first think about it its just holding a camera and moving the way you want it to and then just giving it touches with your editing skills, Well I did think the same thing but trust me it wasn't that easy. Planning and choosing the video wasn't that hard as we took help from our audience in deciding the genre and finding a song related to that wasn't that difficult either.

We planned and we planned to make sure that things run smooth but its never supposed to work out the way you want things to work.

The first challenge the we faced was our props we had to arrange furniture to decorate a whole room and trust me getting beds and sofas to the third floor was not easy and we took help from several of friends and school management as we shot the music video in our school itself

The most difficult part of our music video was the lighting, it had to be perfect as so many different color of lights were used in different angles and shot in the video that we wanted to recreate

In the process of fixing those lights in the classroom that we choose to shoot the video in our school I fell twice while fixing the lights on the roof of the class while I was standing on a table to do so.

we hanged one of the lights on the fan which was not able to bear the weight and eventually broke mid shoot and fell on one of my actors and we had to rush him to the clinic as his head started hurting really bad.

we also had to put extra curtains on the window and stick the corners of the curtains to the window to prevent light coming into the room which took us almost 2 hours to do so.

Setting up the lighting did take a huge chunk of our time

The next issue that we faced was our class timetable as our actors used to leave the shoot to go attend the classes as they couldn't miss it to due to tests and we had to often pause our shoot and wait for them to come back which wasted a lot of our time

On the second day of our shoot when we came back to college and the first thing we realized was our furniture went missing and we go to know that the school management removed everything as the classroom was needed by some teacher to take their lecture in it which was a huge set back for us as we had to work all over again to get the furniture back and decorate the room again which wasted our whole second day of production and eventually we had to stay till the night in school to get the shots that we wanted, which also disturbed our parents as we had to stay late in school to complete our project

weather wise we didn't face any issues as we shot in a classroom mid December which stopped us from turning on the heater as it world get really cold and it made a lot of sound which disturbed the whole decorum of the production room, but it didn't other us much as we all had jackets and hoodies on
